Young Members of the Club said a
fond farewell to Matt Nixon who has now left to commence
his studies at Exeter University. Matt has been a long standing
junior member since 1997 when he first joined our schools club
at Battle & Langton. He soon got the bug and joined the main
club shortly afterwards. Matt has taken part in many of the club activities including the Junior Leagues, Summer Senior League as well as the National Cadet & Junior Leagues where he became renowned amongst members for the 'Nixon Nailbitters'. In recent years Matt has developed a flair for coaching and was appointed as a leader at Catsfield School as part of the club's Premier Schools Table Tennis Scheme. He recently passed the Community Sports Leaders Award and aims to work towards a level 1 qualification in table tennis coaching. The Clubs Head Coach, Kevin Haffenden commented ' Matthew has been a valued and supportive member of the club. He has been a great role model to the younger members of the club and shown a great flair in coaching young people. He will be missed by all members at the club although he has promised to visit the club and lend a hand during the holiday periods. On behalf of the whole club we wish him well with his studies and every success in the future. Matt was presented with a gift as a memento of his time at the club. |
