Leadership can be very rewarding for young people providing a route into
Coaching or just to give something back to your club or sport. Leadership
experience can also be valuable when applying for jobs as you will be able
to demonstrate on experience in responsibility, something future employers
could well find attractive!
Leadership within your club can take on many roles, all of which are
important. From running the Competition Ladder
to looking after refreshment, producing a newsletter to helping
with coaching or organising a
social get together, all can
provide a rewarding experience.
The ETTA organise a number of Leadership Awards for young people
including the Table Tennis Networkers Award, Young Official Award
and Junior Umpires Award. Something for everyone!
Taking these awards could be your first step into taking a
qualification in Coaching or becoming one of the ETTA’s growing
band of Umpires. You could take an award in Tournament Organising
or perhaps become a Table Tennis Development Official through the
ETTA Development Award.
During the coming year the academy will be focusing on developing
young leaders and coaches to take on roles within the club and
community. The academy’s main aim is to develop a network of
leaders and coaches to work within its growing Premier School
Development Programme. This could lead to some paid work for the
right person!
